BEEF

Market is firmer. Total beef production for last week was down 1.8% from prior week and down 8.1% from same time last year. Total estimated headcount was 563,000 versus 620,000 last year. Live weights were down 2 lbs from prior week but were 16 lbs heavier than same time last year. Live pricing has firmed over the past week and is expected to be slightly firmer as we move into next week. Packer margins remain in the negative and continue to put pressure on them to closely manage their bottom line.
